The Franciscan community is first and foremost a brotherhood. We are all friars and it is this brotherhood that binds us together and is the central vocation of our lives. Some of our friars, from the time of St. Francis, have felt called and been ordained as priests as well. We sometimes refer to them as friar-priests to highlight the unique manner in which a Franciscan lives out the call to priestly ministry.

Our community celebrated the ordination in El Paso, TX  of a new friar-priest in the person of Andy Martinez.  He recorded an interview just before the ordination that is quite interesting. It’s also an interview with one of our senior friar-priest. Listen for yourself!

  1. My husband and I attended St. Joseph’s in La Grange, In while Fr Andy served there. He was an inspiration to us and we miss him. We will be in New Mexico in the next week and would like to know what parish he’s now in hopefully to attend mass there if we are able.
