Happy Feast of St. Francis

Last night we celebrated the Transitus at St. Bonaventure. The Transitus is a commemoration of the passing of Francis from this life. It’s usually a great celebration. Last night’s was quite prayerful and contemplative. There was a good group of Friars, Sisters and Secular Franciscans from around the city.

Today we have the Eucharistic Liturgy for the Feast in the morning. We’ll probably go out for dinner to celebrate after the 5:00 pm weekend mass. Then tomorrow we continue the celebrations with the blessing of our new Meditation Garden and then in the afternoon our annual Franciscan Blessing of Animals. As pastor I reserve the right to bless all the cute animals and pass the rodents and reptiles to the other friars!!!

Finally on Tuesday night we have a performance of the Missa Gaia, a celebration of God’s Creation.. fitting for St. Francis.

Have a blessed St. Francis Day!
