This summer (August 13th) marked the 25th anniversary of my profession of vows as a Franciscan. The Silver Jubilee was marked by the presence of one of my classmates, The Very Rev. Bro. John-Joseph Dolan, Assistant General of the Order of Friars Minor Conventual. It’s a mouthful for such a humble friars as J-J.
We had a celebration with the parish here at St. Bonaventure after one of the Saturday evening liturgies. It was an open invitation to anyone who wanted to come and we welcomed over 300 guests for prosecco and appetizers. The next day there was also a dinner for the friars and some friends at the friary.
25 years have gone by. There have certainly been some tough times, and also many more great times. I would not hesitate making the same choice again. I have been truly blessed as a friars.
Today I am off on what we call a “Jubilee” trip. I am heading for a couple of days in Assisi, a few in Padua and then some 10 days in Rome. I hope to do some blogging from there and share some of the interesting things I see and experience.
