Our parish of St. Bonaventure in Toronto and our parish of St. Raphael in Burlington, Ontario will offer a pilgrimage to the Holy Land in collaboration with Faith Journeys, late January or early February 2009 with departure from Toronto. The ten day pilgrimage includes two travel days, and eight days in the land of Jesus. We are looking at spending one night in Nazareth, three nights in Galilee (Tiberias) and three nights in Bethlehem. We are currently working on the pricing, but it usually is about $2,695 + airport tax. This includes a direct flight to Israel on El Al, all transfers, excellent hotels, Breakfast and Dinner every day, all entrance fees, our guide and our bus. The only thing not included are the gratuities (drivers, guide, hotel staff etc), lunch, drinks and other personal spending.
For several years now I have been involved in leading pilgrimages with Kitty McGilly. Kitty’s ministry called Faith Journeys, involves helping people encounter Jesus Christ, through the Word of God and through the richness of the Holy Land. Kitty and those who collaborate on Faith Journeys are neither travel agents nor tour guides. We facilitate a deeply, personal experience of God. It’s meant to be a transformational experience. We use liturgy, scripture, drama, music to reflect on and celebrate/commemorate all seven Sacraments. Yes, there is also fun, fellowship and some shopping.
Faith Journeys is grounded, first and foremost in the Land of Jesus: Israel and Palestine. Based on that experience, Faith Journeys also arranges pilgrimages to Turkey, or Asia Minor as it is called in the Bible. This journey follows the journey of the early disciples and especially Paul and John. There have also been pilgrimages to Italy (especially Assisi) and Ireland. Kitty McGilly makes it a point to work with Palestinian Christians & Muslims and Israelis on these pilgrimages. I have been to the Holy Land twice and once to Italy with Faith Journeys and I highly recommend the experience.
A more detailed brochure will be available on this site soon.
