Allow me to add a few more thoughts to the discussion that has been generated with my post on the Pope’s visit to the United States.

Obviously the issue of sex outside of marriage is a whole different topic than the abuse of minors. It is [...]

Well, it must be said that Pope Benedict’s visit to the United States was an unqualified success. The editorials of the papers have been glowing and I could not believe the coverage that CNN had. They kept repeated over and over again the segments about the Pope meeting with survivors of sexual abuse by priests. [...]
Priest goes up, up and away!

I don’t think I’ll be trying this anytime soon. Check out the Brazilian priest who was attempting a fundraising project by getting transported by helium balloons. Well, it worked…. too well. Now they don’t know where he is.

As I mentioned, I am fascinated with airplanes, flying and all things related. I was checking out the StarAlliance website and visited the site of Blue1, an affiliated regional carrier of SAS, the Scandinavian airline. It offers service to Rome. Check out the description of the destination. [bold is mine].
Visit Rome and let yourself be [...]
My secret addiction

Well, it’s not so secret… I love airplanes. I find them fascinating and beautiful and thrilling to ride. Some people travel to get places. I like to travel in order to fly. There’s a whole industry out there around people like me. Unlike many people I don’t travel a lot for work. Those who are [...]

The Washington DC’s Metro put together an ad to encourage people to use the Metro when attending the Papal Mass in Washington this week. It was a cute ad, with images of a “bobble-head” Benedict XVI riding on the transit system. Reports are that the Archdiocese of Washington was not impressed and [...]

I just got confirmation from my colleague Kitty McGilly about our pilgrimage to the Holy Land. The dates are Feb 12-22, 2009… God willing! The price is $2,695 and includes airfare, 9 days/8 nights in pretty good hotels. Dinner and Breakfast daily etc, etc.
Vatican II’s liturgy and forward

This week’s Catholic Register in Toronto published an excellent article by Bernard Daly. This article challenges some recent statements that changes that were made to the liturgy in light of Vatican II “…were effected hastily without proper research or due reflection.” Daly questions whether Pope Paul VI made hasty decisions. In fact [...]

St. Richard’s Prayer
Thanks be to you, my lord, Jesus Christ,
For all the benefits that you have given me;
For all the pains and insults you have borne for me.
O, most merciful redeemer, friend and brother,
May I know you more clearly;
Love you more dearly;
And follow you more nearly.
This prayer inspired the Godspell play’s song Day By [...]
